The type is having a pretty poor spell lately. Since March this year 6 E400Hs have gone up in flame, consistently 1 each month:

…and of course you have this one in London which is Metroline TEH1112 as well. In fact, going a bit further back in Christmas Eve last year Stagecoach Manchester also had 12214 on fire, which was subsequently written off. (https://www.flickr.com/photos/95289374@N04/32390684110)

It seems many of these are from Stagecoach Manchester - anything to do with maintenance?
Those E400H in LDN should be working longer hours, but seems not as many were burnt than in MCR!

I actually forgot there was another fire involving London United's ADH1 on 27 May this year, which made it 7 fires out of 6 months.
Stagecoach Manchester seem to suffer a disproportionate occasion of fire, but from what I read, it is more about the early production ones that are more suspected to fires. Almost all except the one burnt out on christmas eve were 2011-built vintage. There was actually another fire - ironically from Stagecoach Manchester as well (12036) - back in 2013.
But then, it is not like that more recent built examples are totally immune to self combustion. In fact this one happened only back in October last year, making a total of 9 fires over the last 12 months.
