當年今日：取締紅牌車(1976年)
港府環境科在1976年今日(7月24日)，宣布在兩年內將一千三百架紅牌車取締，
統一轉為的士，
每輛車要補價七萬五千元。
拒絕換牌的紅牌車車主，
要申請私家車出租許可證才可以營業。
以當時的士牌價約十八萬比較，
大部分紅牌車車主都歡迎換牌計劃。
