[ 本帖最後由 hk_ayu 於 2007-11-2 21:06 編輯 ] Face the truth hk_ayu, there are only few sets of Hitachi left in service, and they’re only used during the peak hours, the government has ordered another 16 sets of new trains to meet the growing demand, by the way, most of the services today are run by M>Train/ Connex refurbished Comeng, Xtrapolis and Siemens Nexas, although they're not the best train in the world, but at least they are delivering a safer, more comfortable, air conditioned carriages to Melbourne commuters.
Remember that Melbourne’s public transport system is the cheapest in the country.
Most people would have agree that Melbourne's system is not that bad at all, it is among the most modernist in the country, if Melbourne is that bad, have you been to Sydney or Adelaide? "Ms Kosky will visit Hong Kong and meet the people who operate the city's popular Octopus smartcard, which is similar to the new myki ticketing system planned to be introduced in Victoria next year."
Not saying MTR will be invited in the article... 原帖由 thomash 於 2007-11-3 09:22 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif

From an article of Herald Sun:
Ms Kosky said she was also interested in discovering operators who could be interested in running the transport system.
It comes as the State Government today officially launches its registrations of interest for the franchise through the Department of Infrastructure.
Ms Kosky said it was not part of the formal procurement process but was about encouraging organisations to register their interest.
Industry sources said that the trip demonstrated the Government wanted to target particular public transport operators rather than wait for expressions of interest to be called.

I have been to Sydney.
Their trains are crap but it's quite easy to get a seat even during rush hour.
For Adelaide, I just know the trains are still running on diesel and the rush hour is like this:

Got few questions for you mate.
1. You rather to have a seat instead of air-conditioned carriage in summer?
2. Do you expect to have a seat during the peak hour anyway?
3. How much are you paying for Public Transport in Melbourne, and have you compare the fare to the rest of the country?
4. The newest train in Adelaide was built in 1996. How about Melbourne? 原帖由 Leungy 於 2007-11-3 19:52 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif

Compare wirh Mumbai in India, Aussie train is perfect!!!
Alright, stop blaming and stop improving coz we are far better than India anyway, aren't we?? Just start to learn to accept this is the fact, and i am sure they know the problems but it always come down into cost. Who do you think would have the money to fix all these problems overnight? If you have the solution, why dont you send it to the Herald Sun, or state government, or even federal government, tell them what you think and your solution to solve our public transport problems. 原帖由 hk_ayu 於 2007-11-3 11:27 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif
