[GB] Accessible GreenLine
As the 2012 deadline for the provision of fully accessible buses looms, one of the affected sector, the interurban and intercity coach operators have been scrambling for a feasible and reliable solution. It was only until 2/3 years ago, the first acceptable solution was found in the form of front door wheelchair lift (or the MagicFloor as National Express call it). Since then, this solution becomes the absolute favoured choice by many coach operators, including Stagecoach and First. For these two giants though, their preferred vehicle of choice is the mid-size B7R/Plaxton Profile, as seen here on First Greenline service 702.http://www.tinywong.talktalk.net/bee_20369_080407a.jpg What about the Wright B7RLE? A boardmate posted a photo of it before. 原帖由 sunnykam 於 2008-5-4 14:11 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif

I did :) (and so did a few others actually). That's long been forgotten. That layout was not good enough as a coach anyway because it leave the wheelchair in a fairly vulnerable place - right at the entrance. The layout of the Commuter also makes it feel more like a bus than a coach as well, it's just not spacious enough.
Just to recap for those who cannot remember which bus we are on about:

The first row of seats can be moved backward
to accomdate a wheelchair.

Yoram Or they can extend the low floor area just like what Premier Illawara in Wollongong does:
