LDN: specials on routes 246 [d/d] and 65
Hello,In London today, we had two seperate special operation:
In the bromely area, route 246- normally operated by single decks-i.e. plaxton bodied 10.7m darts- was operated by double deck scanias- omindekka with east lancs bodies. the allocation is 4 and the occasion: Biggin Hill air show.
in the ealing area, route 65 had 10 extra buses running part of the route- on the occasion of the closure of the piccaddilly line because of engineering works.
there were 3 darts and 4 VAs.
The VAs at FW garage are due to be replaced by Mid September by tridents made spare from the conversion of route 267 to Omindekka scanias .

can you answer me,please? sorry for the delay in replying- I was away on holiday till today!
London United does not have a Royale bodied volvo olympian in service. the ones they had in the past were sold to National Express for airport routes but they were withdrawn in 2004 and sold to operators around the UK.

oh! That means LU have the royale Volvo Olympian before? London United bought about 20 Olys with Royale bodywork in 1995 for work on routes A1 & A2 between Heathrow Airport and central London. Those routes were 'commercial' routes- i.e. not part of the normal bus route network.
In 2004, the company decided to sell the airport routes to National Express, and the buses were sold to National Express. the reason was the opening of the Heathrow Express rail.
The only other operator in London to have Royale bodied Oly/volvos were London Central; 9 of those were bought for route P11, later changed to the 381. Those worked from PM garage, and appeared on the 12,36,63. They were sold in 2003/4.

Yoram
