LDN: poltical change- Citaros on route 507
Route 507's articulated Citaros from 2003 were replaced yesterday by Citaro Euro5 buses- for a political reason, as the Mayor of London promised to replace all articulated buses in London, claiming that they are 'unpopular'.Here is MEC4- A citaro Euro5 bus - on route 507 Nice pic, thanks for sharing.
I was silly enough to book a day off work yesterday to sample those new buses first hand and not knowing the fact that they have actually entered service last Saturday and the service itself has now been extended to weekends as well. Back to the buses themselves, apart from being 6 metres shorter, they look almost identical to the 453 MALs, but with fewer seats (Only ONE seat in the low floor section in fact). On my short trip to Waterloo station, I did hear quite a few positive comments about the buses from fellow passengers, many of them praised for its smooth ride. But apart from this, you don’t get much reaction from the general public. I remembered when the first bendybuses took to the street seven years ago it caused quite a stir. You could actually see passerby stopped and turned their heads and watched with amazement as the bendies passing through the busy streets of central London, which is something you don’t get to see now these days, not with an MCE anyway. Here are some of the snaps I took yesterday.

How many bendis are there in London? 原帖由 iczer3 於 2009-7-28 19:14 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif
What is the political reason and why is not popular?
The Bendis were introduced into London by the last mayor to replace the aging RMs, but there had then
been voices among the public that they didn't like the Bendis, partly because they're not British-built. Some
people also claimed that the long Bendis were blocking the traffic. That's why the current mayor of London
tries to "eliminate" those remains from the last mayor on the streets. 嘩...me兄真係快手...:o
小弟過兩日先去〔開工〕...:lol A simple but naive question:
"Where would all these bendie buses goes after all?":funk:
