Ford Five Hundred
This is the Ford Five Hundred (not 500, as Ford puts it), to people that are unfamilar with American cars, this is Ford's answer to the imports.Due to the Taurus and Crown Vic. being way outdated.Ford introduced the Ford 500.Techincally, this is an American, however, the underframe is from Volvo's s80, the Engine is the European Ford Duratec 3.0 V6, with 203 hp and a six speed Auto. (CVT is optional) Even the controls such as the wiper, and the headlight switches are from EU Ford.The Avg Gas Mileage is 23city/29hwy, which is better then the V6 accord.From the interior, the building quality of the Ford 500 improved greatly, the fitting is without flaw and gaps, also, the interior panel are wrapped with soft touch vinyls, rather then the hard plastic that the old Fords has.The handlight and ride is a blend of European and Japanese sedans, the steering is not light at all (as American cars used to have steering wheels that are too light to give feedback).The most impressive feature of the 500 is the ride height.Even thoguht it's a sedan, but the sitting position is similar to a Ford escape.This feature helps the drive to see better on the road condition.The seats are easy to control and suits the Asian body well.
However, I do have dislike in this car, it's the instrument panel lights, I would prefer Ford uses white lights rather then the ugly green light that are so 80's.Also, the hood release in the front of the car is hard to reach.
This car is leased by our family.So far, I really like it. It's better then the Nissan Cefiro I have in HK now.

架車操控及鋼水如何? The handling is a little softer then Monedo, however, it's still sort of European, espcially the steering and the controls.
BTW: The 2006 Ford Fusion (The competetor of Camry) will be similar size to Monedo and with a Mazda 6 underframe, also, the door panel is shared with Mondeo (As Monedo is not a US model)
