My Route 38- normal service buses
Route 38 was one of my favourite routemaster Routes. The route was not too long, served interesting places, and had lots and lots of buses serving on it!During Mon-Fri there were 36 buses off peak and extra 14 peak buses.
There were two types of buses serving the route: most were RMLs, and 9 were the shorter RMs which were refurbished a few years ago and are known as 'dartmasters' .
Here is a personal selection:
RML888- the 'lucky' bus- was also the very last standard routemaster on the 38 as CT131. Here it is, on happier days, passing it's home - Clapton Garage .
RML2277- a nearside view outside Centre Point
RM2060 - at the late sun- wonderful light!- shown at the Angel. This bus was selected for further service on route 15, to start on 14 Nov 2005.
RM1640- a nearside view at Dalston Lane; this bus was with 'First' on route 7/23, hence the yellow centre band.
