[UK] Goodbye and Thank You -- The "Routemaster" of West Midland

What I refer to is Metrobus, which were born in Birmingham and
has been a major part of bus service in the West Midland area
for over 30 years.

With the withdrawal of the last Metrobus (#2654) in Perry Barr on
Valentine's Day, Metrobus has officially ended its passenger service
with NXWM, with only few left in Acocks Green for school service until
around Easter.

Let's salute to the very original bus of the West Midland:

If you are refering to Pic 7. The red / yellow was the livery of Trustline of Hunsdon, Hertfordshire County. That bus is a Preverved Timersaver 2957. New to WMT in 1986 sold to TrustLine in 2003. Then sold for Preservation in November 2007. This batch of 50 (2911-2960) were fitted with voith 4 speed gearbox and are capable to to 60mph that's why they were called "Timesaver" Metrobuses. They were mainly allocated to express routes.

Not quite. There are 8 at Acocks Green, and they will be used as spare apart from school services. Although I have heard "March" to be the last day for them, but it's not definite at all. They will have to wait until the B7RLEs are cascaded off the 37 by new Omnilinks.

So it's not the end of the WM Metrobus in passenger service, not yet anyway. When the time comes, there will be a tribute thread on B5.
