LDN Route 159 mulli coloured RMLs
Dear All,yesterday, we had quite a colourful selection of RMLs: here are some:
RML2565 from Stratford Upon Avon, on loan to Ensign - in Blue
RML2405 in Gold - from Ensign
RML2317 - from Metrobus in Green
RML2665 - from Stagecoach in their livery
regards
Yoram Route 159 is operated by Arriva.
The special guests - all 24 of them- operated on route 159 by the agreement of London Buses.
London buses regulate bus routes in London- in fact, they are the 'route owners'.
So:
RML2405 which was once owned by London buses and sold to Ensign, was operated by Ensign
RML2665 and 2760 are owned by Stagecoach and operated by them
RML2565 is owned by a sightseeing company in Stratford upon Avon, and was on loan to Ensign for the day
RML2317 is owned by Metrobus- part of the Go Ahead company.
All the buses which were in service were licensed to carry passangers, as 'class 6' , insured, etc.
regards

That company is Stratford Blue, which is wholly owned by Ensign. Thank you, you are right! however, legally, on Thursday RML2565 was running on Ensign's 'O' license plate and not Stratford Blue, so * technically* it was on loan to Ensign.
it sounds confusing - and it is.
Part of the requirements of operating the special guests on a TfL/London Buses routes is that the bus is operating by a copmany which is approved by London Buses for operation on their routes. Ensign is such a company, so the bus had to be on loan from Stratford Blue to Ensign and operate on their Operating License ['O' license].
