[GB] Cobham Spring Gathering 2010 - Modern Buses
As DA50 has presented the classic buses, it should be my turn to show off some of the more modern types that made an apparence to this year's Cobham rally.http://www.tinywong.talktalk.net/Cobham%20%28iT%29/IMG_6854.jpg
Being a major rally of the year, it is inevitable that a number of operators took the opportunity to show off their latest gears:

...and ADL took one of their stock built Enviro 300 to the show as well:

As this years event was to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Green Line, some of the modern Green Line vehicles, like this Citaro branded for the 724 (Harlow - Heathrow Airport), were presented:

A number of relatively modern, but old types that have gone into preservation also made a presence, such as T888, which spent its late service life with London Central:

Another modern type was the Metrobus. Out of which, the most special one is no doubt Sullivan Buses' M2, one of the first batch of 5 to be delivered to London Transport in 1978.

M2 wasn't the only bus that Sullivan Buses brought along though. They have ELV4 as well, formerly London General's EVL35, which wear the celebratery 10-year anniversary livery of the company.

Going back to preserved buses, one notable trend over the last year or so is the increasing number of the classic Leyland Olympians going into preservation. One of which, Southampton Citybus 289, made its Cobham debut this year:

Another one, in a more early stage of restoration, is this, ex-First Capital 250, formerly a Leyland demonstrator. It is understood that this bus will eventually return to the condition when it operated with Capital Citybus in the 90s.

The surprise of the day, however, comes into shape of this Olympian. Freshly restored - in fact literally repainted the day before - Alden Valley 1510 made its rally debut in Cobham, and became the first of the rare Leyland Olympian coaches that went into preservation.

Last but not least, and a break of the theme of this post, is RM1 and RT1 poising together for a photo:

Optare Olympus looks really nice in de Courcey's livery!
Much better than in Johnson's livery in my opinion...
And glad to see M2 again...it still looks pretty! What is the B7TL converitble for?
English people really love buses, especially double deckers and so many bus rallies, unlike down under here in Australia.............:@ :@ :@ :L
