記得九巴網站未更新之前,
於二零零二年左右曾有一篇新聞稿
話佢自己買入左 17 架 V. Man (即係而家 AMN) 用左四千萬元 ~

平均235萬一部﹐相信當時都係比市價平的。

這批車是城巴落order 後﹐因配額問題而要退訂﹐令到車廠做完批車後無買家﹐於是與九巴幫手﹐給果批車由九巴買下。
傳言是用一個比正常平的價錢成交﹐原因係殺了城巴的訂金﹐同一時間批車又唔會有其他買家﹐務求快快甩手便算。

You are not completely wrong at all.

AMN34 & 35, which features Citybus style interior configuration (and also ordered by Citybus), are included in that sum of 17 buses. KMB only ordered 15 new AMNs at that time. I believe that AMN34 & 35 were sold at a discounted price.

Just to give you a rough idea.
A relatively basic Stagecoach spec E400 similar to the one below
costs around GBP147000. :)

Whereas a Firstgroup Volvo B9TL normally costs around GBP167000. :)

But it has to be said the final cost really down to the
size of the order and thespecifications of the bus.
Things like leather seats, air-conds and all these extrasreally do push the prices up.
