LDN: New Hyfrogen Bus
8 new Hydrogen operated buses are to enter service on route RV1.although 3 of them were delivered before Xmas, and at least one was 'promised' for service on 18th Dec 2010, none have entered service yet.
here is the first one, caught by chance on training duties- WSH62991.
we call them the 'kettle' and 'WSH' in local slang stands for 'woosh!'.:D
this is not the best of photos- but I was caught by surprise! Then how about the existing E200 darts on RB1? Where will they go? I've heard of this news 5 years ago and only now I start seeing it on the road........ Just wonder, What was delaying it so bad? :( Route RV1 needs 8 buses, and only 8 hydrogen buses were ordered; so some E200 darts would be still needed.
The current batch of E200 darts on the route, which replaced the citaros, were 'borrowed' from Uxbridge- they were bought for routes U1/U5, so I suspect some of them will go back- if at all.
Much depends on how reliable the hydrogen buses would prove in service!
my own instincts tell me that the E200 currently on the RV1 would still be around for some months to come...
