Sounds silly to me...
Why no one discovered the problem until recently, even though the
O405Ns have been put in service for 12 years or more?

Sounds silly to me...
Why...
It has nothing to do with the Mercs itself, but anything with roller blinds i.e. B7TL/Presidents, Solos, Excels and B6LEs. It seems NXWM are concerned that yobs might assualt the driver, or worse, took over control of the vehicle. One way or the other, it's just health and safety at its nuisance. Is that talking about the signs the drivers worried, or Benz O405N the problems from vehicles?
Actually, I studying in Wolverhampton, there are lots of old buses in NXWM like Optare Excel, Benz O405N and ALX400, most of them put in services more than 10 years. I think is this place will be a concentration camp of old buses? 原帖由 深圳西站 於 2011-4-21 06:15 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif

Just read the article again and you'll find out it's talking about the signs, or more precisely,
as said by NV58, the roller blinds.
Among NXWM's different garages, I'd say only those garages with "showcase routes" in
Birmingham city centre under them are "prioritised" for new buses, the most likely one
being BC(Birmingham Central). Yet I don't really think the old buses are problematic, at
least my personal thoughts go more with Mercs than the Omnilinks. It is not uncommon at all, nor recently.
Back in the old Metro days, many of those drivers did not fully use the rear number blinds.
Only those that do not need to change routes on the running board, like the 126, display
the route number properly at the back.
Some of the routes, say the old 590A/590C, the rear just shows '590'
Others, like the 128 and 129, the last digit is always half-way between 8 and 9
The remaining services simply show nothing at the back, like the Pershore Road 45/47,
Bristol Road 61/62/63, Sutton Lines 104/104A/105/114/902/904/905/915 and so on and so on. That's funny.... Recently there are notices displayed at Coventry garage reminding drivers to show the rear and side blinds properly. 原帖由 DA50 於 2011-4-25 03:06 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif

Oh really? Has NX overlooked that there are still a good deal of Mercs and a few B6s
with roller blinds in CV?:D
