SUBSTANTIAL ORDER FOR WRIGHT GROUP FROM FIRST
http://www.wrightbus.com/news.asp#320 new buses will deliver to FirstGroup by the end of 2006 as follows:-
28x Volvo B7LA / Wright Streetcars
226x Volvo B7RLE / Eclipse Urban
66x Volvo B7TL / Eclipse Gemini
The StreetCar order includes the 15 for Leeds and 13 for another
ftr scheme.
The 226 Eclipse Urbans:-
113 to Manchester
110 to Glasgow
Saids in the press about the missing 3 B7RLEs
...another three destined for the Aircoach airport service at Belfast City Airport. Based on Volvo B7RLE chassis, all vehicles feature an eight camera CCTV system for added passenger security. The Aircoach vehicles have an
additional mid door, with a seating layout which incorporates two luggage pens, together with a PA system.
Special features on the new B7RLEs order:-
1. Glasgow-based vehicles specified a driver's assault door and screen.
The 66 Eclipse Geminis:-
28 to Leeds
20 to Bradford
10 to South Yorkshire
8 to Somerset & Avon
Special features on the new B7TLs order:-
Nine camera CCTV system (11 for the Bradford vehicles) and will also feature the new Wrightbus Telematics platform, which will simplify any future fitment of passenger information systems and "smart" ticketing solutions. Looking at the split of the order, it looks like the B7TLs will be delivered before October,
when Euro4 compliance is coming to effective. It's a bit surprising that First is ordering
28 Streetcars, consider the Leeds ftr only need 15 vehicles. Prehaps it includes those
earmarked for York (although it sounds a bit late), or even a new ftr is further down
the line? Rumour was saying the other 13 will allocated to York, but no further announcement has been made from First yet, I will keep this up to date. But those Streetcars for York are already completed and there are photos around already. So I don't think they are included in this order?
