“I am delighted that we have been able to demonstrate our on going commitment to the City through these very practical ways,” said Tony. “Safety is our number one priority and these new vehicles, coupled with the arrival of Sergeant Nigel Chapman further underlines our commitment to ensure the safety and comfort of our customers and staff at all times.”
The first new vehicle will start to operate on the 8 and 9 route and is wrapped in a ribbon, letting customers know that this is the first of 20 new buses for the City, the remaining 19 will be introduced over the next few months.
Sergeant Nigel Chapman starts working with First in Bristol over the next few weeks, his appointment is the culmination of close partnership working between First in Bristol and the Avon and Somerset Constabulary.
Sergeant Chapman is part of a dedicated team of officers working to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the city centre. He said: "Thousands of people travel in and around Bristol on First's buses every day. The aim of my new role is to work closely with First to improve the safety of their passengers and staff. “
"As well as carrying out patrols on the buses, I will be looking to develop better communication links with First to identify problem crime areas and any passenger or staff concerns." |
