my goodbye to route 13

Dear all,

On Friday the last routemasters on route 13 run for the last time after 42 years of good service.

here is a sample of three photos taken in their last year of service:

RM1005 rounding trafalgar square last summer. RM1005 was the very last normal bus in service on route 13 [as BT17].

RM1627 loading up at Regent Street

and RML2734 turning from Pall Mall into Lower Regent Street.

I did photo the routemasters on the last day, but, in this postings I wanted to show the routemasters as they were in every day service this summer.

I have actually spent the past year getting photos of as many routemasters as possible - in the sun and in the summer when the light is best.

On the last day, I certainly made a point of riding the buses.

But you must remember that there were extra guest buses on the route, and it takes time to photo all of them- you can not ride on a bus AND photo the buses at the same time!
