Depends on where you go and which company you choose. If you
want to go a bit far e.g. Bolton it can cost you something like £2.60
typically. If you go to the university, though, go for UK North, Finglands
or Magicbus. Don't pick non-Magicbus Stagecoach vehicles, they tends
to be a bit more expensive.
If you have to get on a bus for at least 3 times it's actually better to
get a one day pass. You can ask for a day pass for a specific operator,
and they are a bit cheaper than the GMPTE ones, which can be used
on all operators, you quote. |

Well, I just want to travel from the Piccadilly railway station to the Manchester City FC Stadium, and from there back to the city centre.(Not a very long distance to travel) It would include 3 bus + 1 metro or 2 bus + 2 metro, but bus trip will involve Stagecoach Manchester (rt. 256/236), and the others are Mayne(rt. 231/236). I don't know whether it would worth to buy the GMPTE bus+metro day pass or just a 3.2 pound bus day pass plus one metro ticket. Anyway, thx.
p.s. It is quite inconvinence to check the bus/metro fare in UK website. They just only tell you what's the price of daypass/travel pass, but not the individual prices. |

Oh that's handy. All you have to do is take a short (5 min) walk to
Piccadilly Graden. From there you catch the Magicbus 216 to the
City of Manchester Stadium, which will be the cheapest option -
not to mention the Magixbus 216 is mostly operated with 3BLs!
If you don't want to walk from the station, take the Metroshuttle
bus no.1, operated by First. It is free and a couple of stops will
get you there. In fact, if you intend to hang around the city centre
for the rest of the day, then I can do with two trips on the 216,
as the Metroshuttle is rather handy, if a bit unreliabile. Be careful
though, the last no.1 bus is just before 8pm! If you miss it, you
can still take a walk back to Man Picc station. |

Just to let you know that Manchester Piccadilly Train Station and the city centre will get rather busy tomorrow afternoon as approximately 3,000 Chelsea fans will come to see the game against Manchester United.
You should be alright at the Man City's Stadium! (Nobody will be there)
By the way there is no need for you to buy a day ticket, just walk to the 216 Bus Stop and get a single ticket and do the same when heading back to the city centre. Some ex-CTB Leyland Olympians sometimes work on the 216 as well! |

70p single as far as I remember for the 216, if you go to City of Manchester
Stadium.
For the Metrolink, it should be 1.50 single, but don't quote me. |

I have no idea the fare system of Magic Bus nowadays, but a single ticket between Piccadilly and the Stadium should not be over £1 (as its only about 20 minutes walk).
Again, there is no need to take the Metro to St. Peter Square. Just follow the track of the trams (either to Altrincham or Eccles) you should get there in just over 5 minutes. |
