Dear All,
London United ordered 55 omnidekkas [Scanias with East Lancs double decks] for routes 13 & 27- in two batches. The second batch, starting with SLE43 , and intended for route 27,had a new ventilation system fitted to the bus.
The buses started entering service on Friday- but on route 391, to release some darts to route 81, to relase the single door darts from route 81 to route K50.
Here is SLE44 at North End Road near Olympia. notice the second upstairs window [from the front] and the two 'blobs'. on the nearside, there is one 'blob' , and there is an elongated rear extension panel above the rear window.
There are 22 buses in this batch, and route 27 will be taken over by London United on Sat 12th Nov, using SLEs from V garage, and on 11/11, RM1650-SRM1650 will run on route 27.
regards

What's the different between new and origin ventilation? |

Up to July 2005, ventilation systems were NOT installed on double deck buses in London- only heating sytems for the winter.
So, for new buses, the specification is for a system that creates air circulation and force fresh [cooler] air into the upper deck of the bus.
SLE1-42 were not provided with an air ventilation system, but it appears that the 22 buses [intended for route 27] were ordered with a ventlination system.
Regards
