Metroline E400 on the road

The engines are specified by the company, and the E400 can take more powerful engines.
Indeed, in London, the trident engines are not very powerful, but the tridents ordered by Connex and are now leased by Travel London are more powerful- same engines as NWFB for climbing up to Crystal Palace [routes 3 & 157]. [those are TA1-19, 21-123]
Those more powerful engines cost more and consume more fuel, and the tenders in London are compatitive on costs, so it does not make sense for a bus company to buy a more powerful engine for a bus that runs in inner cities, frequently stops and starts, get stuck in traffic lights, and there are no express running or steep gradiants to climb.

What a good smiling rear design!
I would say the rear is quite appealing!
For the "Delay Mechanism"...it's used in Hong Kong for years!
From pressing the "door close" to starting the bus costs some 6-7 secs. |
