[GB] Scania Omnilink
As Scania moves on to Euro 4, its popular L94UB low entry chassis was replaced by the K-series range, and a significant number has turned up in the UK since the middle of 2007. A more interesting variety though, are the 13.7m 3-axle version. First introduced in Nottingham by Notthingham City Transport towards the end of 2007, it has not only won follow-up order with NCT, but a batch of 9 were also acquired by Stagecoach Fife for use in Scotland.http://www.tinywong.talktalk.net/nct_303_080510d.jpg

Is there any particular reason for Stagecoach/NCT to acquire these vehicles, as oppose to double deckers? And why the emergency exit is not installed in the middle of the bus, but at the back as the old days? 原帖由 kmb3asv3 於 2008-6-11 06:46 發表 http://www.hkitalk.net/HKiTalk2/images/common/back.gif
Interesting vehicles.

Consider the small numbers both operators ordered (3 for NCT and 9 for Stagecoach), they are mainly for evaluation I believe. One interesting point to note is both of them put these buses on Park & Ride services, which tends to be short but busy (actually not the case of Stagecoach, their Omnilinks are deployed on the 53, running between Edinburgh and Dumfirmline - a 20-odd mile service).
B7TL: You say that, but I found the Omnilinks a bit too tall - although these tri-axles compensate that with it's extended length. At 12m, I think the Omnitown looks better.
Sunny: No idea why - maybe at the time when the order was places, the emergency exit requirement was not yet compulsory. Interesting to note that Stagecoach's new E200Dart/E300 got the repositioned emergency exit - and they look awful.
