Wish I am still in the UK...finally there are low floor 3-axle single deck buses over there! They are stunning!!! (And looks far better than Optare's products) |

Interesting vehicles.
Is there any particular reason for Stagecoach/NCT to acquire these vehicles, as oppose to double deckers? |

And why the emergency exit is not installed in the middle of the bus, but at the back as the old days? |

Consider the small numbers both operators ordered (3 for NCT and 9 for Stagecoach), they are mainly for evaluation I believe. One interesting point to note is both of them put these buses on Park & Ride services, which tends to be short but busy (actually not the case of Stagecoach, their Omnilinks are deployed on the 53, running between Edinburgh and Dumfirmline - a 20-odd mile service).
B7TL: You say that, but I found the Omnilinks a bit too tall - although these tri-axles compensate that with it's extended length. At 12m, I think the Omnitown looks better.
Sunny: No idea why - maybe at the time when the order was places, the emergency exit requirement was not yet compulsory. Interesting to note that Stagecoach's new E200Dart/E300 got the repositioned emergency exit - and they look awful. |
