E400H for HK(?)

Note - This is a rumour I have seen from my own email subscription and have not been rectified, so I would appreciate with anyone can confirm this. However the source, as I understand is well informed and therefore I am posting it with good grace.

Apparently an order of 6 E400H have been ordered as part of the trial of hybrid buses in Hong Kong, with 2 each going to KMB, Citybus and NWFB respectively. If true, this is understood to be the first overseas order for the type.

I am not surprise by that at all, and it is more than reasonable. Of course, for some others it may be quite late as this should the plan of last year.

Your source does match with the Policy Address Last year which mentioned to introduce six hybrid buses to gather operational data.

Let see whether the E400H will arrive first or the Mainland electric buses.

By the way, the so called modified E400 body has yet to be put onto a hybrid bus yet. And I do believe that this E400H will look more simliar to the CTB's ones and so it may be the first ever E400 modified body to put onto E400H?

Moreover, I cannot think of an E400H that has a full air-conditioner instored. (Maybe some of them have the little ones?)

It will be very interesting to see how many seats there will be under the law of HK....80+ perhaps?

But I doubt whether all six hybrid buses mentioned by the governments are all E400H.I don't know whether there is a possibility for other models such as E500H and Volvo B5H being tested. Also I think there is a chance that KMB gets three buses and CTB+NWFB get the other three.

I think the fund is given according to the franchise, not the size of the fleet, so it seems to make sense.

And for B5H...well..as we all can see, the normal Wright B9 2 Axles version has been problematic even before going over all the test in HK. With the CTB largely orders E400 now, getting B5H to HK may seem very unlikely~

Back to the basic...

Are you sure E400H able to pass the TD type appoval test?? ;P
E400 with diesel engine just meet the weight limitation in HK.

This is sure that Hybrid verison MUST heavy than the diesel one...
So... if you told me is E500H, i may believe more with this story... :lol :lol

As far as the current source close to the UK bus industry, there is still no very concrete purchase requistion for specific types of new energy buses.

However, contract for a new order of more than 120 new buses placed by NWS would be signed soon and it would not bring any surprise regarding the model and brand.:)

Well, i must say, a better chance than B5H~~

But I wonder, does E500H exsist at all?

Only one is known to be in service with BC Transit in Canada.

I'm wondering if we would see a Citybus order for 30 or 50 11.3m Enviro 500s this time? Anyway, seems like it's about time they order more new buses to replace their aging fleet. I'd be rather looking forward to E500s with the E400 facelift...:lol

But I am under the impression that ADL had been marketing the E500H heavily, at least in North America.

And I am of the opinion that the E500H would, operationally, be of greater utility than the E400H in Hong Kong....
