London- new & interesting this summer
Dear All,
Summer this year in London was cool and mainly cloudy and quite a lot of rain. So, it was not so easy to take good photos this year.
But, for the August long Bank Holiday- Notting Hill Carnival- it was sunny all day every day for 3 days.
Here are some photos, showing 'what's new'..
I start with new buses: the Olympus bodied Scania fiannly entered service on routes 7 [Metroline] and 148 [Transdev].
Both routes serve the Carnival area;
route 7 was diverted to terminate at Harrow Road instead of East Acton, and SEL745 is shown here with the blind arrangement for the day. [There are 33 of those on order, for routes 7 &205]
Route 148 was doubled from 16 to 32 buses on Sunday and Monday, and here is a fully loaded SO2 rounding off Marble Arch.
At the same location, 'SPE16'- the ethanol Scania- is shown nearside. This bus is a demonstrator, and would leave London for Reading in late September.
Transdev also operate route 94, serving Marble Arch. for 3 weeks, they arrange for a loan of 6-7 buses from First to cover for their own buses being fitted with I Bus information system [announcing the next bus stop].
Here is TN32963 seen on route 94.
and..in the far east end of the London area, Blue Trinagle operate d/d routes 248 & 474. in the past couple of week, one bus was involved in a serious accident, while another bus was set on fire by a passenger.
So, to cover the shortfall, they got on loan two buses from London General : PDL1 & 2 [tridents].
Here is PDL1 picking up in Romford.
