Most likely be A330 since they are still having more A330 to join the fleet...
As I have heart, CX will be allow to fly up to 3Daily on HKG-PVG, I think this allow CX to make a reture trip on morning/mid-day/afternoon... |

If there will be 3 Daily Flights, most likely to be one in the morning near 0900, it is for the transit passengers coming from North America/Europe Transit (the likes of CX883/881/889 etc from North America & CX252/288/260/270 from Europe) or tour group, its turn round flight back HKG can then make connection for North America/Taipei flights as most CX flights departs around the time 1600-1700;
The second one should departs from HKG around 1630. Again most CX flights arrived HKG between 1330-1530, make easy connection for transit passengers, its turn round flight arrives back HKG around 2230, for passengers connecting flights to Europe/Australia.
And the last one, I think it would just like the time of CX318 or even later, may be no later than 1900 and stay one night in PVG. This schedule is mainly suitable for Mainland Travellers!
In terms of number of passengers, it is not necessary that all those passengers from HKG. For CX, it makes use of HKG's geograhical advantage as a HUB for transit for passengers from its international network, so I don't think CX would face difficulties if they enter service to PVG
