Brighton- ex LDN stagecoach trident

The first 99 tridents ordered by Satgecoach in London were delivered in 1999-2000. London Buses did not like them, as they had no rear windows, the staircase was forward and not middle, and they did not approve of the rear seating arrangement downstairs.
Rather than modify them [as Arriva did], they decided to buy some more tridents, and dispense the earlier tridents outside London. Indeed, this is what happened, and most of those tridents have been 'transferred' away from London. The sale of Stagecoach operation in London put a stop to the process.
Two years ago, several ex London tridents were 'transferred' to Stagecoach operating on the south coast, serving the towns of Brighton, Hove, eastbourne.
Last year, stagecoach decided to close down the garge from where those services were operating, and the routes, and the tridents passed to Brighton and Hove- one of the Go Ahead group.
Here is ex London TA69, becoming 17069 in Stagecoach and now 881 in the Brighton and Hove fleet. I think the livery is very nice! |
