Surprises, special surprises for route 381!

dear All,
On Friday, we commemorated the end of crew operation on route 38, with 16 extra visitors.
Some of the visitors were really special:
TD895- a Bristol 'K' from 1948; this bus was one of the 200 which were working on Loan in London between 1949-1950, when London did not have enough buses after world war 2. They were all painted green- like this bus.
TD895 worked on route 336 in Amersham for 18 months. 7 similar buses were working on route 38.
So, here is TD895 at Graham Road, Hackney at the start of it's journey.
RMF1254:- This bus was built for London Transport in 1961 as a front entrance crew opeated bus. it never run in normal passanger service in London, as the conductors and drivers union did not want it. So, the bus spent some years on airport service work, and sold to NewCastle.
The bus was bought by Imperial, who restored it to service, and on Friday the bus run for the first time in London. I was very happy to ride on it!
Here is a nearside of the bus at MildMay Park.
ST922: this bus dates back to 1930, and I was invited to ride on it. Here it is at Islington- and I have two views of the bus.
The other special visitors were:
RM5, RM6 ,RM298 ,RM613, RM1650/SRM3,RML900,RML2665,RML2760,RT1431,RT3062,RT3871,RT4421,RLH61,RTW75.
If you want to see photos of any of the other 'special visitors' pls let me know...
Regards,
Yoram. |

According to my album, I think the following buses were in the special ride
last Friday.
RMC1456
KYY529(sorry, I can't see its fleet number)
RT190
Other than these, somethings more special happened on that day.
ALM97B appeared in Victoria Station at 17:24, and RML2278 was running around
with plate number 23 on. It has been running around since that morning, and
throughout the afternoon. RML2532 was on a private hire for a wedding, and it
appeared along the schedule route of 38 around 16:00. |

RMC1456 RT190 RT191 and several other buses were running along route 38- but all of them were private buses and not in public service. It is permitted to run a bus displaying route details in London unless it runs in public service, so the owner of RMC1456 should have not been running the bus with blinds showing service 38.
I do not list or refer to those buses as they were not official.
regards

Oh, I understand what you mean now.
Just an additional point to ask. is RML2278 owned by any bus company or
owned privately? It was running along route 38, but it had been showing the
blinds of 23 all day.
Also where did TD895 go in the afternoon? I did see it at around 11:00, but then
I didn't see it again later during the day.

RML2278 is privately owned, as did travel along route 38 showing route 23 & sorry not in service.
TD895 only performed one round trip from hackeny to victoria and back to Clapton Pond, being replaced by RLH61.
I *think* we may see TD895 again on the 159, and if not, on route X80!
regards
Yoram |
