只係歐洲版,唔知佢用咩引擎,如果係2.0就應該係K20A,160匹果副,
如果係2.4就係K24A,泰國裝崁版本(美版CM5)都有呢款,只不過香港多左一隻

Even in the US, only Galant 2.4, Lancer and Outlander, Eclipes sales are at reasonable level.

What??they still selling the 1st generation Avalon in Aussie, I've even see 2nd generation Avalon in NZ before.  and US is in it's 3rd year, based on the Crown under frame.

Yes, the production of the 1st gen Avalon ceased just about 8 months ago in order to cater for the new Aurion, with minor facelift on the frontlights, which made it looked even more disgusting...





Basically what Toyota Australia did was, back in 2000, they wanted a big car here (bigger than Camry) to compete with Holden Commodore and Ford Falcon, and they were being so tight-ass on budget, so they bought the tooling from US for the 1st-gen Avalon and basically building it here... Now that they have learnt a lesson at least to bring something with a bit more modern look and specs.

Can't they just ask Toyota of America to import the Avalon from Kentucky to Aussie, I think it's not that hard to modify the avalon to Aussie standard.  As the second generation Avalon was sold in Japan as the Pronado.

AFAIK, the Avalon that we build locally have suspension tuned specifically to AUS conditions, but I suppose it shouldn't be a problem of getting that tuned for the Pronard as well...

Another issue was that, the Avalon (AUS) has a different chassis from its counterpart in US, the bodyshell is identical, but the chassis was modified from the AUS Camry. Also, the Avalon AUS production line was basically a replacement of the Corolla production line, I suppose they couldn't afford to invest on the extra production capacity solely on the Camry (maybe?), that's my view only.

Anyhow, the ugly Avalon has disappeared off the product list, so that's a good start, the new Camry and the Aurion will be both released later this year, I am very keen on seeing the Sportivo version of the Aurion in real form

Wow, Thx for the info, I can't believe they can fit the Avalon body to a Camry chassic, that must be some cost of the R&D too lei.


BTW:Is the Sportvio the same as the 3.5 Sport of US, I've test drive that car in US, and it's really good as a sport sedan.

Should be the same, speculation is that it will be a supercharged version of the 2GR-FE, capable of producing close to 200kw (268hp), so it should be the same engine as the US Avalon by checking from the US specs.

I personally don't like the look of the new Avalon, the 2nd-gen (ie. Pronard) looked great and stylish, the current version looks more like a less-disgusting Buick/Cadillac.
