And then there is this bunch of GOP market-economy extremists who don't care a bit about the worsening conditions of schools, infrastructure and so on. The school reported here suffered 'walls peeling off, water leaking through the roof and debris falling off from the ceiling', and that some classes had to be 'taught on trailers', perhaps making it even worse than schools in Sichuan, China after last year's earthquake.

The US has one of the highest Gini indices among developed countries (though Hong Kong is even worse in this respect), comparable to Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela. It is easy to see beggars everywhere around.

These being said, I still prefer living in the US to Hong Kong, mainly because the US society is far less monolithic than its HK counterpart, and because it has a much better academic atmosphere and respect for human knowledge.

沒有地方係完美的, 如國說是第三世界, 我覺得把問題跨大

是社會普遍富裕、少部分人極度貧窮；還是社會普遍貧窮、少部分人極度富有呢？相信是後者，因而才會有20:80的說法。

相信有更多的"合法窮人"被所謂自由經濟所誤。

當做Walmart要去到食阿公份醫保(而自已供唔起自己份醫保)個陣，仲話無問題？

係呀，保障左呀，不過帶來的就係Walmart可以將個成本Externalize左，轉嫁左畀其它納稅人囉。
