LDN: New Wright body volvo B9TL in service

Dear All,
The first 2 axle volvo B9TL entered service this week in London. The prototype bus is owned by Volvo and was loaned to the Go Ahead group for evaluation. the B9TL would replace the current model - B7L- just in HK the B9 is replacing the super Olympian.
The body is by Wright, and looks almost identical to the one used for the B7L [the WVL class], and is 10.102 m long.
There are only two differences between the B9 and the B7: externally, notice the dual intake for fuel [on the right] and treated water [on the left hand side.] This is beause of the Euro 4 [& 5} emission standard engine fitted.
Internally, towards the rear downstairs, on the B7 model the step is near the back to back pair of seats, while on the B9 the step is by the first pair of seats by the rear door.
The bus has no ventilation system fitted, and seats 41 upstairs plus 21 downstairs- just like the WVLs.
The bus is called B9, and here it is at Buckingham Palace Road today. It is not necessarily allocated to route 11.

Is this B9TL using the same engine as of those using in HK?
It is incredible that a 300+hps engine is used to drive and 10m non A/C bus. |

by Volvo, which is powered by the 9.3-
litre engine. The 'B' means 'Bus' and the
'9' means 9.3-litre D9A engine.
I'm very pleased to see the luanch of 2-
axle version B9TL in England. I hear that
a 2-axle B9TL is being assembled at ADL
plant in Scotland. |

其實我唔係好明點解要轉用番9公升既引擎,之前既7公升引擎動力方便唔錯,如果轉係因為要乎合Euro 4既關係,咁大可以用D7E 引擎丫.
老實講,比較起我坐過既B7TL, B7LT 同B9TL,我覺得D7A或者D7C引擎既感覺真係好少少(我尤其鍾意B7LT既感覺)
*B7LT 係指由B7L加中軸o個批雙層3軸B7 |

This bus (fleet number B9) is the only one Volvo B9TL in London.
There are no B1-B8 as far as i understand.
Correct me if i am wrong.

It's because Volvo produces the 9.3-
litre engine double-deckers now. The
production line of B7TL will be ceased.
Really, how about the engine sound
of B7TL? Similiar with B9TL? |

但係佢既然有7公升既引擎出....點解要轉呢?
宜家普遍既引擎容積已經越o黎越細,好似E400咁,用ISBe4 6.7公升引擎,我覺得已經夠用,宜家新既兩軸B9TL 用番9公升引擎唔知會唔會因為耗油量而少o左人用呢?
其實B7TL 既引擎聲同香港既B7R 幾似,不過高轉o個時會高音d |

我覺得用ZF波箱的B7TL同Super-Olympian的聲似就真,
不過又真係好好坐,

Dear All,
the engine sounds quieter and the acceleration is better than the B7L. but, I must stress it is a new bus, and all new buses sound good and have a good quality of ride when they are new! after they have been in service for a while, and the engineers treated them well or not unwell, they are not as good as new. So only time will tell!
