[GB] Wrightbus unveil hybrid Gemini

The new bus is based on a VDL DB250LF chassis and unveiled in a ceremony by the Mayor of London
Ken Livingston. This bus is expected put into service with Arriva London on the 141.

The bus will arrive in Wood Green garage sometime after the end of next week. The garage has yet to get the necessary infrastructure to 're-load' the batteries [if this is the correct term], and then, the engineers have to be trained how to work with the bus. Then, type training of drivers commence.
The bus will run as an extra on route 141 [unless there is a problem!].

The record of the WHYs at Q garage on route 360 is far from impressive. There are 6 WHYs, and, on weekdays, no more than 2-3 appear in service- and if they do, they usually have to be taken off service after half a day of service.
This causes real problem with service quality for passangers.
The buses were withdrawn from service for 6 weeks in the summer for modifications by Wrights, but, their performence in actual service has not improved.
There is no doubt that the ride is pleasent, but the bus is very noisy.
Unlike route 360, route 141 is a long route [2.5 hours round trip] , so we *suspect* the bus will do 2 trips a day - Mon-fri, with a rest and refueling in between trips.

The hybrid d/d is based on the same technology as the WHYs. The bus is not owned by Arriva, so it *should* not get a class code. [in fact, Wood Green garage run a hybrid bus - the electorcity a couple of years ago on route 184!]

and here is the origional hybrid bus on route 184- exactly three years ago! [how time flies!]

and here again, same bus, a month later, in the gloom on route 42- nearside this time.

oh, yes, this bus has been returned to Wright.
In the summer, the bus was observed in Q garage, painted in red, but has not been seen in service on route 360.
