2條航道是多還是少? 我覺得好似冇咩用咁, 得2條

2 Flight Path is not a lot.... But at least its better than 1... And hopefully it will help to ease congestion at HKG...
It doesnt mean that HKG will not require a 3rd runway... Is just that as delay reduce, it will help to increase capacity at the runway... So the date when HKG need a 3rd runway could be push back by a few years...
But in the long term, I still believe that a 3rd runway will be needed... Even if not being the gateway to China... It is still the transit hub in SE Asia with Cathay Pacific handling a huge amount of transit passenger... And also with Oasis HK low fare, it would also attract more people from Hong Kong and China to fly long haul... So I dont see the chance of a 3rd runway is being rule out...

why didn't the government build 3/4 runways when they planed for the chap lap kok airport...
i think they should have known that the air traffic will increase year by year...

As you may be aware that the new airport project was planned during late 80's, early 90's and planned to develop through from HK being part of Britian to when it became part of China... So it wasnt up to HK Government to decide how big project would be, it was the British and Chinese Government... The British government was very happy to build as big as possible, but China government dont wish to use all the reserve at HK to build the airport...
So at the end... The design and project cost was confirmed by the 2 government... Beside the political reason, it was hard to expect how changes would be like as HK become part of China again... As with the uncertainty at that moment, not building too big would be a good excuse so when the new airport was built, even if the traffic stay the same... It would still not be a very big waste... But if they build 3/4 runway, then it would... And of course land would be another issue...
Having said that, when the new airport openned... The HK government then have also had a 30 years plan for the new airport and how it would develop... Although they could estimate the growth... But there are always some other factor which are hard to estimate like the heavy growth of the new airport as the gateway to China... And China opening bigger and bigger tourist market and destinations to Hong Kong... It was unexpected... So estimation can only base on the fact and information they had at that moment... With so many unexpected growth during recent years... And to target that problem, HK Government have just started another study for the growth for CLK airport and its estimation to cover the old plan which was clearly underestimated because of exterinal factor...

原先o既設計係基於預測到 2040 年o既使用量o既,
其實預 50 年都差唔多喇卦。
