It was London United. the route has been withdrawn and the buses sold when the London-Paddington to Heathrow rail line was opened.

I think it would make more sense if we re-structure his sentence as;
"the route has been withdrawn and the buses were sold (to Ensign, First and TWM accordingly) when the London-Paddington Heathrow rail line was opened."

Olymplan 不是低地台,應該那個輪椅升降台是可以升高吧(那樣 Metrobus 又如何呢?)
搭單問:之前行走機場線的 Metrobus 在轉為 Olymplan 後全數退役及被肢解嗎? |

No, they are retained for normal service. Quite a few of them still survive as trainers. |

Just a bit of an addon to that. The coach-seated Metros were transferred to Kingston Garage and later to Fulwell Garage before they were withdrawn. 2 of them are still survive as trainers and they are based in Tolworth. |

Sorry for the delay in responding- I did not use the internet for a few days [!].
The A1 & A2 routes, linking central and west London to Heathrow airport started many years ago with Metrobuses- in the days of London Buses. The services were upgraded in 1994-5 with a batch of Royal Alex bodies Olympians, and the service transferred to London United when the company was privatised.
Route A3 started as a service from central London to Stansted airport, using coach seated L312-314 plus a few Metrobus as spares.
my records up to 1997 are in storage, so I can not check when the A3 was withdrawn. but it was not a success.
There were indeed some Metrobuses which were refurbished for use on Airbus services, but they were also used on communter express service 609 which run in peaks between the City [bank] and Mortlake. it was short lived.
London United did sell the Airbus operation to Airlinks, which is now part of the National Express; the sale made sense, as the company operated many tourist orientated services linking hotels and airports.
Airlinks sold some of the buses to other companies, as not all of them were needed. In the meanwhile, the OLys were also used on route A6 , till they were finally withdrawn when the rail link to heathrow [from Paddington- the Heathrow Express] was opened .
regards
Yoram [back on line!] |

There were two A3's. The first one started at the same time as A1/2 and was withdrawn soon afterwards.
The second A3 started in summer 1992, but ridership was so poor that it was withdrawn a few months later. |
