Which one will u guys choose? GBP 300 bonus or FREE UPGRADE?

I m goin' to take Cathay flight from LHR->HKG this Friday,
as I know that Y-class is overbooked due to high demanding in the booking,
and I can see from the online booking system that,
both 15th and 16th's Cathay 254,256 are so full,
eventhough first class seats are N/A at this moment for those 4 flights,
so will I be able to get any free upgrade, do I have to ask the staff for free upgrade at check-in counter?

Will I get less chance to get free upgrade if I do a check-in online?

What means by N/A(Not available) shown in the booking system for first class now?
Is it means that some pax will upgrade from Business->First?~

P.S.: I m holding MPC Silver card

I think in this case its not really up to you decide which is the best option in the real situation as you know the Y Class is already full and so do F and C.

I don't think the chance will be very high in this case for upgrade a pax but more likely to ask them change for the next flight.

I am travelling on CX250 this Wednesday as my seat is already reserve (row 44) so I am not really bother to make any changes  Time cost money!

If the system said it is N/A, most cases means the First Class already full and not able to make the booking online.

If you decided not to check-in online especially this time of the year, I think you are a bit risking yourself and the worst situation can be:

1. You may not have free upgrade but delay for the next day, or
2. You will be allocated to the middle seats on the same flight since someone had check-in earlier than you and accepted the offer

Once again, I dont encourage people to ask for free upgrade, it is better to let the staff decide it even I am also a MPC Silver.

If First class is fulled, how come they don't show "FULL", but show as "N/A", confusin me...

I couldn't be allocated as exit row for my coming flight back HKG,
coz I booked the flight quite late,
In mid AUG, as I got the university offer by mid AUG...

but other flights with CX in the coming school year, I hv allocated as exit row (row 44/54) already~

and looking forward to fly with A346 again~ ^.^

Well I dont know why but just remember First Class seats are limited and N/A is no difference with FULL especially in LHR.

如果係用744的班次, 即CX250, 咁就冇乜機會了, 因為BUSINESS位都冇乜..

如果係用346/34C/74J的呢, 就有大D機會...

係呢, 順口一問, 樓主入左邊間U呀?

It depends on what time of the year you are flying, but this week and next week will be very full and chances are very small

Do you have / is there any broadmate has got free upgrade experience in 744's flights.

P.S.`: How can we know abt whether it is using 744/74J on CX250 flight or not?~

particularly on 13th -> 16th, these 4 days are the most ALL full in DEC 06.

I think CX will launch 258+259 to/from LHR soon.

Two simple reason and no wonder

1. LHR- HKG is the popular route as always
2. Christmas holiday for overseas students like me and you

But I think CX have altered their website recently and will only show 744 for all routes.
If you book through your travel agent, ask them if the flight is 744 or 74J.

Since you are MPC member, why dont you ring the hotline and ask them??

I think you should check the website first, all the flights are FULL including business class.
