I've to give RTHK a schedule for a bus theme trip to UK before my interview held on the coming monday...
so I wanna get something to fill in it...
1.Could anyone tell me are there any museum about buses which got some HK buses in them?
2.Will there be any great bus event between Jan-April?
3.Is it possible to visit AlexanderDennis or Wright? and....where are they?
4.except BIGBUS in London, where can I find some exHK buses in UK? Are there any ex-3BLs still in service?
And if you get some great ideas for this theme trip in UK....pls suggest me^^~I will be very grateful if you do so@@
Thank you very much^^" |

1 Most ex-HK bus either in service or in private conservation, not much in muesum!!
2 There will be a bus rally in April in Cobham Bus Muesum, I don't have much detail with me right now, may be other boardmate can give more detail on date. Try Google as well.
3 Don't know much about this, can others give info...
4 There is definitely some ex-BL working in Sheffield for school service.

1. The only one now is the one in Scotland that has LV36 in its collection.
2. No, the rally season does not start until early April, and as Tommy pointed
out, kicking off with the Cobham Bus Museum open day.
3. Surely, no chance by yourself. They are business organisation, not museum.
If you are part of an registered organisation, maybe you can write to them to
try to arrange a tour. Wrightbus is based in Bellymena of Northern Ireland, and
ADL has two major plants, Guildford and Falkirk respectively.
4. Apart from Sheffield, Stagecoach obviously operates a substantial fleet of
former Citybus Olympians around the country, with Manchester the most common
haunt. Some 3BLs are still kept by Stagecoach for use in Manchester, and some
also made for Scotland to operate as school buses. The former LMs are now with
First Eastern Counties, whilst, as you might have read from another post that you
should find some former Citybus Dart SLF and B6LEs with Stagecoach South.
Obviously, there are also odd MLs and DLs around the counties for school contracts. |

so for those in private conservation, are there any owners should be welcome for visiting them with RTHK cameramen? |

If you want privately preserved vehicles, the obviously person to start with is Dave Rogers,
the owner of former Citybus 102 and 105. Same goes for Campbell Morrison, who owns
SF31. Of course there is the DM17 too, which I cannot remember who the owners are.
The thing is though, do you have a specific subject of what you want to promote to RTHK?
A "bus theme" trip is just lack of any focus to me. If you are after former HK buses in Britain
now, are you looking at those being preserved, or those still in service, or both? And if you
go to the owners and operating companies, what are you planning to find out? Quite frankly,
there isn't really a lot of HK buses being preserved out here, so you won't get much material
to put a programme together. If you spend the whole programme talking about things like
"the former Citybus Olympians have been working in Megabus and Magicbus in Manchester...
blah blah blah", You got to think about how much interest the public audience are going to
have, and I doubt there would be a lot - maybe apart from some hardcore bus enthusiasts.
Things is though, if you need help, you can send me a message, and I'll try to dig some
info out for you. |
