Well... I would suggest you to buy a pay as you go Oyster Card... As this will give you a capping rate of 4.6 pounds for Zone1+2 and 5.2 pounds for Zone1+2+3+4...
For night travel to Heathrow, there are night bus services N9 from Hyde Park Corner (Stop M) which run directly to Heathrow... And the travel time is approximately 1hour... You can also pay with your Oyster Card...

A bit of out topic, but N9 is definitely a great bargain. The whole trip only cost you ONE pound and if your Oyster is capped, it is free!!

Actually Piccadilly Line is the best performing line out of the whole Network according to last year PPP report. The second best is East London. So you can now imagine how bad it can get for the rest of the LU's line.

For me, I will suggest you to get a 3 day pass for zone 1 - 2. It is sufficient enough and it is possible hop on and hop off for any bus or tube, any time you want.

But for a Zone1+2 3Days Travel Card cost you 16.4 already... But if you do pay as you go, Capping rate is 4.6 for Zone1+2 per day (which make up to 13.8 for 3Days...)...
For pay as you go Oyster, you can still hop on/off bus+tube+trams+light rail which are all included in the Capping rate...
However you can have unlimited travel on NationalRail within London if you have a Travel Card comparing to Oyster pay as you go...

TRUE. 個人覺得 PICCADILLY LINE 於 ACTON TOWN JUNCTION DELAY 得最嚴重.......
有時 NORTH BOUND OSTERLEY 未入 NORTHFIELDS 已經"排隊".....

話時話今日 (07年01月19日) 大約六點幾 RUSH HOUR，PICCADILLY, CIRCLE, DISTRICT, HAMMERSMITH & CITY LINE 都有事...
不過到八點幾 PICCADILLY LINE 就正常番......BUT 我相信每個人都明白 CIRCLE, DISTRICT 同 HAMMERSMITH & CITY LINE 有幾 RELIABLE...

所以搭車入閘前一定要睇清楚...否則 PLAN 錯 ROUTE 就好好玩.......
