Dear all,
the first 3 E400 from a batch of 27 entered service on route 452 operated by Travel London.
20 of those are intended for the full allocation of route 452, and 5 are intended as a part allocation for route 344 [requiring 21 buses].
By the instructions of head office- Travel Midlands in Birmingham, the Travel London fleet would be renumbered.
At the moment, the E400 are called the ED class in 'London-speak', but, when the fleet is renumbered, this bus, which is ED2 would be called 8102.
[the batch of 27 E400 are now ED1-27; to be 8101 to 8127; the Tridents are the TA class [1-130] would be 9701-9830, and the V class would be 9001+]
The bus is shown in service near Sloan Square. those are the short [10m long] version of the ADL chasis.
regards

i still can't figure out where the lower deck emergency exit door is, or does E400 not have one? |

no, it does not have an emergency door! I think you are supposed to break the glass [same as upstairs].

ADL gave an option for operators to choice an emergency exit, like it used to be, or
replace it with a few hammers to break glass in emergency.
There are a few actually got the emergency door fitted, for instance, TWM's 4698:

It is said that the new batch of E400 on order for route 486 in Lonodn have been specified WITH an emergency exit. it remains to be seen.
I have posted before a photo of an E400 with stagecoach in Newcastle, which has an emergency door.

Is Stagecoach model's E400 longer than Travel London's E400? It seems Stagecoach's one is longer by the look of the photo. |

Yes, it is... there are 2 different lengths (10.1m and 10.8m) for Trident chassis |
