Actually, I was told by my uncle (and he is a cop) that both hands should remain on the wheel the whole time
while the wehicle is in motion.
If you are driving a manual transmission, you are allowed to use one hand for shifting
but that hand should be free from the wheel only when shifting is needed
and as soon as you are done with the shifting process, both hands should be on the wheel
and they should be placed at "10o'clock" and "2 o'clock" position on the wheel
Thats the rule (law); nobody enforces it doesnt mean its not there, same way for the footware rules while driving. |

I quoted worlds from a HK police who had been working with the traffic law for years
If that wasn't good enough, then please pardon me
Let me tell you something about instrutors:
The transit next door (i am currently working for a transit and we share our dispatch office with another transit)
their drivers always turn illegally, and they were all taught that way by their instrutors:
we drive on the right side, whenever the bus or a long vehicle make a right turn,
the vehicle are not supposed to swing left and turn;
instead, their should always cross the center line on the road that their are turning into

However, their instructor told the drivers to swing left before make a right turn, which is illegal
Anyway, the point i am trying to make is: instructors aren't always right,
no matter how much experience they have. You might be taught that way, but that doesn't make it right
I trust a cop who works with law at the time better than an instructor
of coz, bottom line is that the cop could be wrong~
if thats the case, like what i said upthere: please pardon me (and good luck with your driving) |

reliable source of reference.

Please pardon me again if I confused you in the last post,
I am saying how should the bus driver make their turn, not the other drivers
In that case, their instructor teach them differently from what the drivers' manual says (which is illegal)
thats why I said even your instructor told you to do so, it could be wrong
P.S.: I don't know what's the correct answer for that exam question in the place that you can use only 1 hand to drive
But for myself, I would do #1. This is what people say about defensive driving:
you can't stop others from making mistakes,
but you should try to keep yourself out from troubles
I am pretty sure buses are not supposed to swing wide before they turn, but you know what?
there are drivers do that (like the drivers at the transit next door!)
yea! their are wrong, so what? are you gonna pass them and hit them?
It's like you have a green light, and you see a kid just dart out from the sidewalk
what you gonna do? stop on a green light? or run the kid over because you have the green light?
By the way, i strongly recommend you to go ahead take a look of the drivers' manual for buses |
