Case bus services based in the Midland, operate about 20 Leyland Nationals. most come from London, and date back to the late 1970s. Chase was taken over by Arriva, so the days of the old Nationals are numbered!
here are ex London LS382 [rte 94] and LS365 [route 9]

As new, the Mk.1 National has a 8.2L Leyland 510 engine (rated at 200bhp) and Leyland
Pneumocyclic 5-speed semi-auto transmission. I must point out though, a lot of surviving
Nationals have been re-engined with a Gradner, DAF or Volvo unit, which may well be the
case of the vehicles shown here. |
