[GB] Eclipse Commuter

In the bid of providing accessible layout to interurban coaches, Wright came up up with
this idea: Eclipse Commuter, in 2004. The idea is to provide a high floor to accommodate
seats, which is generally preferred by passengers traveling over long journeys, and a
wheelchair space at the low floor level, next to the passenger door, to simplify loading
and unloading of wheelchairs.

Unfortunately, the layout is not liked by some disability organisations, citing the layout
makes them feel isolated with other passengers. At the end, the "Magic Floor" lift design,
launched by National Express, is preferred in the market, and only 2 Commuters were
sold to Stagecoach Western, funded by Dumfries & Galloway council.

另一部 Eclipse Commuter唔會就係BP54 WYH嘛....?

果時聽講過Stagecoach訂左50部用呢款車身既B7,點解而家變左係2部?

如果我冇記錯o既話, 果邊有間大型長途車
公司入o左有升降板o既單層豪華車,  果塊
升降板設o係車頭前門入面, 可以收起, 用
o既時候就拉開個板同時打開塊板, 機械操
作, 好似o係香港o既 Rehabus 咁用, 只係位
置唔同. 同 Commuter 比, 前門有電動升降
板o既單層豪華車就比較複雜.

No, the other one is 21202 (SF55RKE) in the same fleet. BP54WYH should be a demonstrator owned by
Wright. The 50 you talk about should be the B7R/Plaxton Profile, which feature a similar design to NatEx
Magic Floor.

誰@359: Magic Floor is basically a wheelchair lift concealed in the steps of the entrance. When it is
operating, the roof near the cab raises to bring it to the same level as the main cabin area. It is a
complicated system, but provides a much superior accommodation to wheelchair users.
