Route 460- AV39 [ex SBS] back from the dead!

Last night, 13 buses in Perivale garage had their window smashed by youth. It meant that the garage could not send 10 buses out this morning.
PV-Perivale, operate routes 205 297 460 - all double deck & 95[single deck].

Some buses were borrowed from other garages, and some odd workings occured.

AV39- that's the ex SBS leyland olympian- was supposed to be withdrawn from service after friday 22 July when the schools finish. but, here it is, with full blinds, today at Willesdern. Today *should* be it's last day in normal passanger service, and it really only worked the 460 once!

I 'over-heard' that AV39 was planned to go to Harrow Weald Garage for school contracts.  But instead, it was just being left at North Wembley Garage until recent days.  I believe the bus will go to Harrow Weald Garage when the summer finishes.

Av39 is not a standard bus. The body and the engine are unique in the Metroline fleet. Therefore the decision was taken to withdraw the bus from service.
Metroline has a superflus of standard non low floor buses- the V and AV class, and those can only be used on the commercial services [such as 84 242] and on TfL route 4.
Metroline also lost the school contracts on which AV39 was used on.
BTW, those school contracts were private and not public service contracts.
