[UK] Scania Omnidekka demonstrator

過去兩年 Preston Bus 多番從不同廠家借用 demostrator, 今次
輪到 Scania 的 Omnidekka 了.

How is the performence?

For our Scania demo, there is still no news about it... #:-/

This bus - the Scania domonstrator- also served in Brighton [photo'ed it on route 6!] and, a couple of weeks ago- Newquey. as we say over here' this bus has been doing the rounds'.

Scania are interested in selling more of their buses, so a bus operator can ask the company to lend them a demonstrator for a period. In many cases, the manufecturer would oblige.

And also UNO (Universitybus) in Hatfield, who is going to receive some new Omnidekkas soon according to LOTS!
Yoram, maybe you can get us some photos when they enter serivce?

from what information I have recieved, Go-Ahead group are requesting a chassis only version of the omnidecker which is to be bodied by Wrightbus
Scania have not confirmed if they will be making chassis only version yet - although it is very likely!

Leon Daniels of First Group announced that First actually placed an order for scania omnideckers with Wright bodies.

and...

the first of 55 scanias ordered by London United for routes 267 13 27 [in this order] are due to be delivered to Fulwell garage for route 267. coded SLEs, they will have the new blind arrangement as carried by WVL151 from London General. Indeed SLE2 is on loan from Edgware garage for drivers training. The first few should start converting route 267 to Scaninas [from Tridents]. FW will get 14 buses, then Edgware will get 22 scanias for route 13, and the balance will be delivered to Stamford Brook for route 27 [starting in mid Nov 2005].

The buses for University Bus: the academic year there has not started yet....

This is what First Bristol saids earlier that 20 Scania with Wright body, but now we have 20 B7TL for the Showcase route 75 instead.

No idea, it was a surprise to me when I saw it, as I heard nothing about it.
It should be on trial for 2 weeks, as Preston Bus is accustomed to. As of today
it is still here, and still working on the 11.

Yoram and Norris: According to the previous (two?) issue of BUSES no such
order was places. The news of that order, apparently, is fake.

Yeah I know there is no such order placed by First, but the funny thing was the rumour came from staff of First Bristol's Lawrence Hill Depot.

In addition, the B7TL won't start deliver to FB until October as I know that the aerial radio equipment just arrive at Wright's factory, hopefully they will get assemble in coming weeks or so.

The scania omnidecker was a demo for the omnicity - but scania not have any omnicity demo! Of which Preston Bus have placed an order for 7 Omnicities due Feb 2006
