公共交通客量劇減

表面睇, 09年2月各類交通工具客量都比09年1月跌, 但係記者冇考慮到2月得28日, 而1月有31日.
若果計返呢個調整, 其實09年2月除左的士同山頂纜車外, 其餘公共交通工具載客量都比09年1月高.
金融海嘯對的士影響, 係大過巴士.
但若果用每日平均數字比較返09年2月及08年1月, 九巴同新巴每日載客量分別跌左0.09%及2.4%, 相反港鐵本地線就增加左1.63%.
可見港鐵繼續蠶食巴士市場.

In the article, the reporter not even once emphasised the comparison with January. But why not February 2008??
Obviously the data in February 2008 doesn't meet the reporter's own "pre-conclusion" and thus got dumped.

Data analysts:
variety of data/info -> analysis -> conclusion drawn

HK reporters:
conclusion made -> pick the "right" data/info to match the conclusion

The quality of reporters in Hong Kong is really a shame.
They don't even have an idea on statistical analysis which is crucial in their profession.

由於篇報導冇08年2月份數字提供, 所以我都只有比較09年2月同08年1月呢兩個非農曆年月份既客量.
若果將09年2月份三間巴士公司加港鐵加綠小同的士既客量數字除28日乘返31, 得出數字係3億640萬, 再同08年1月份比較, 只係少左7萬6千人左右. 報導中既副教授都冇留意到呢點.

還要留意一點，就是 2008 是閏年，二月有廿九日
不過農曆年效應又會有影響
所以都幾難下定論

本人張貼的月報，亦有提供該月內的按日平均客量，有興趣研究的可加以利用。

不如計計比例...
九巴 -1.16%
城巴 +1.28%
新巴 -1.70%
港鐵 +0.19%
綠小 +1.03%
的士 -15.54%
纜車 -7.72%

似乎經濟差，最豪華既的士業首當其衝。
九巴、新巴咁減法斷估都係因為減班縮線加價趕客之故，
城巴除左無加價，總客量應該都有受深圳灣路線帶動。

唔知電車客量係咪又有所上升？

原本以為呢種分析只會用o係娛樂版，點知慢慢連港聞版都用上。
