In US Protege 5 and Protege is consider the new generation Maxda, because it got a retune Suspension, a 2.3 engine from Ford Europe, therefore, the car is different then HK's.  From my experience, the HK version cars seems to be lower in quality then those sold in US.  such as I test drive the Mazda 3 in hk, the engine noise is louder then the 2.3 in US and also, the 1.5 cannot delivery sufficient power.  Plus the wheel is only 15 inches in the sport version rather then the 17 inches that the US have.

Basically, the Zoom Zoom era's Mazda is similar to a European Ford, the handling and performance, since the 2.3 in Mazda 3, 5, and the 3.0L in Mazda 6 is from EU Ford.  Therefore, they received good review in the US and Canada, and even thought the price are alot higher then the older models, the sales are still reasonable.

老實講...除左2仔買12萬真係唔值之外

15萬買部好操控ga3仔...19萬買部載7個人ga 5仔...我覺物超所值

如果我無記錯, Tribute開始係zoom-zoom, 然後先至出6仔.

小弟4個月前才成為萬事得3仔用戶,
當初我揀3仔係因為同級對手corolla同樣價錢的車,
又無tiptronic+-波, 又只係得乘客SRS氣袋, 又只有1.8L, 仲要係南非車! <- 澳洲係入南非條線的車...
當然唔希望6年後就有板友所提及的大問題出現,
如果當真如此, 我肯定不會手下留情立即投入豐田車的隊伍!

至於籃球撞笠車身, 就算有坦克車稱號o既Volvo車都一樣會.

In hk is not, but in US, Protege facelifted and Protege 5 is in the zoom zoom campaign.  Also, after the zoom zoom campaign, alot of ppl turn to Mazda, especially the Mazda 6, both 2.3 and 3.0 V6 sold well, but I dunno why they put the hatchback M6 in US line up, since hatch back is not that popular in US, and it's really similar to sedan.  Also, Mazda is consider brave to introduce the Mazda 5 in US, as it's competetions, VW Touran, Chevrolet Zafira, Peugeot 307SW is not available in US/ CAN, 5 is the only vehicle available in this class.
