The 2.3 Mazda 3 engine is shared among new Focus and Volvo S40 in the US.

Mazda RX8 is really popular among Asian, (especially Hong Kongese and Japanese) out of the 30 RX8 in Seattle, 22 of them are own by Asian, 11 from Taiwanese, 5 Hong Kongese, 6 are japanese.  (Since their MSRP is only $25,000)  Also, the Tribute, MPV, and Mazda 5 are popular with Family users, Mazda 3 is young adult (The market used to dominate by Acura and VW), and Mazda 6 as young executive.

In fact, I think Mazda is becoming really popular in the US (west coast).  Maybe if HK can have a better engine range for the mazda, and a more competetive price, then I think it will have a better sales.  (RX8 price is too rediculaous, for almost $500,000, I can get a BMW or Audi)

Subaru is not a brand that uses efficent engines too, then howcome people like them, most of the US range are with 2.5 L engines, or 2.o Turbo, Legecy uses H6 3.0.  They have the worst gas mileage in their segment (among other Japanese brand)

Are the Mazda3 2.3 version tagged as SP23 in US? They are still Japan-made aren't they? The SP23 in AUS have BOSE sound systems and leather trims for top-of-the-line model, it's such a great car! For a car at AU$31000 it is definitely a very attractive car to own!

Neither myself or anyone in my family have owned any Mazda vehicles in the past, but definitely we are extremely impressed with their build quality in the Mazda3 that we have got a few months ago, fuel economy is excellent, I can do 10.3km per litre of fuel, compare to my parent's Volvo S70 which can only do 7.2km per litre...
