Do a check on the LV series. Engine 8PE1-N and S. They conform to the Heisei 11 (1999 AD) Emission Regulations.
By far the KL- emission is the last one in Japan that allowed V type diesel engines to pass, after that regulations and cost problem no longer allow V type engines for production and major truck and bus manufacturers withdrawn them from production line circa 2005.
However to my understanding, such engines are still in production for export. Thailand coaches are a good example, many of them have Hino V8 and Mitsubishi V10 engines conforming to KL- (which is essentially Euro 3) standard.

Agreed. Both KC and KL era had this engine. The KL one is wheelchair accessible whereas the KC one is not.
