Adding winglet would increase the range of the jet as it increase the fuel efficient so they can fly further... As a plan of adding more internetional flights, airlines like CO/AA have added winglet on some of their B757 to cope with the increasing number of middle-haul international flights... This is mainly because of the lower demand of those international routes but are still more profitable than many of their domestic routes which have been suffering from LCC flighting in the market for long already...
