Don't think there is any the following weekend, and then another 5 turned up over the weekend 15-16th May according to that fotopic site. I went the weekend after and there was none, but when I went again yesterday there were 8 at the docks.hkitalk.net, G9 u4 C2 q' m( M. P' ^$ [6 f

So altogether there should be another 13 coming your way within the coming month
It is not strange that you saw a batch of new buses suddenly yesterday. As those buses have been assembled for a period as per source from a Northern Irish bus enthuiast, they would be shipped together and transported to the docks to meet the shipping schedule. |

That makes sense. I do figure out that they seems to get shipped over the Heysham on Sundays at the 1st and last week of month, and usually once in one of the weekends mid-month. My guess is there could be a few more coming through next weekend as well, will have a look if I have time.
One other thing I am wondering, is whether Wrightbus manage to build all 60 of the 1st batch before they shut down in the August summer holiday? At the current production rate, it looks like they are halfway through already - observed so far are 2 in service, 15 arrived in HK, at least 13 in UK ready for shipment. Only caveat is I assume these Geminis only get shipped to Heysham over weekends. And considering out of the 8 which arrived in HK about a month ago, only 4 were actually observed in Heysham in early Apr, I'd like to think the number is actually higher than what I just quoted. |

Actually I had similar doubt last month when I saw the 8 AVBWUs in stead of 4 AVBWUs that I expected.
My guess is that another 4 AVBWUs drive to SOUTHAMPTON port directly on the boarding day. So you did not see them at the Heysham.

I just think they were transiting through Heysham on a weekday, in which case neither myself or Alistair Liddle (the owner of that fotopic site) would have spotted them, as we can only visit the dock over weekends. |

Some UK bus enthusiasts suggest that Heysham dock is not the only dock for handling the freight for Wright Bus. Fleetwood would be another dock. Therefore, it would be another reason why you find di ...
I know about Fleetwood, it was the transiting port when the London B9s were delivered. The only problem is I don't think the AVBWUs were going through their because their size may become an issue to get through the road there. Also, from Heysham the road is actually much wider, and hence easier for them to get to the M6 motorway, which goes south.
Personnally I don't mind if they go to Fleetwood as it is closer to where I live. |
