小弟想問紐約 MTA 係好像九巴咁用專營權私營靠票價賺收入定係好像澳門咁政府公營靠政府補貼票價呢?
紐約 Subway/LIRR 邊個站會係唐人聚居會有中文字?
不過看樓主啲相 LIRR 啲車的坐位都唔錯喎,但係有幾多車站的基建就差少少;都唔得 ADA/Wheelchair Accessable,甚至連盲人引導經都無就真係唔係好得。
不過都樂見部份車站有做到工夫,例如設置 LCD Screen 等等。
小弟好有興趣想去睇下佢條數係點計的,同埋咁複雜的網絡,佢的準時率同埋 Service Delivery 係幾多?

美國大部份公營機構都是靠政府補貼,不論火車 (e.g.: Amtrak), Subway (e.g.: MTA, MBTA, CTA) 和市內巴士
Canal St. yellow lines (N, Q, W, R) 站內,Flushing 站不見有
早前已討論過 MTA 經常更改行車路線,又全人手控制
準時率同埋 Service Delivery 有目共睹
p.s. 4, 5, 6 沿線部份車站今年安裝了 LCD 顯示下數班列車之到達時間
我見過有次是這樣的
1. 4 local --- 1 min
2. 4 local --- 2 mins
3. 5 express --- 10 mins
4. 6 express --- 13 mins
只能說有資料好過沒有
每線車距 / 班次理應是平圴的,例如
1. 4 local --- 5 mins
2. 5 express --- 8 mins
3. 6 express --- 13 mins
4. 4 local --- 15 mins
,全人手控制突顯了班次不準時的問題。

即使係政府補貼的話,那麼咁的服務質素盞無人下次投佢票啦。
想問 4 5 6 號線是否位處 Marginal Seat 地段呢?
想問 NY Subway 有無時間表,同埋如果係 Limited Stops/Limited Express 的話;請問乘客點知道架車停邊個站?
與其花咁多錢倒落伊拉克阿富汗,不如慳啲搞掂自己的交通系統先啦。小弟不反對人手控制,不過似乎人手控制的制度或者 Procedure 出咗少少問題喎。 |

Apart from money, the bigger issue is Tea Party fiscal conservatism at work. 
There is a bunch of politicians who want to reduce the size of the government and think that the government should not intrude into our lives. They think that the government should simply cut spending and eliminate social programs, no matter how 'necessary' they are (many even argue that Medicare and SS should be privatized ) They have been able to draw support from many voters (predominantly blue-collar white male) and gained significant traction in the 2010 midterm elections - look at how many Democratic congressmen they have unseated!
A prime example is the proposed new Hudson river tunnel which would link NYC and New Jersey and alleviate much of the traffic congestion across the Hudson right now. It recently got killed by the NJ governor, citing overbudget issues:

Surprisingly, New Jersey residents, who supposedly know how difficult it can be to drive between NJ and NYC, support the project cut:

Thanks to these people who don't have long-term vision, the US definitely has sub-par infrastructure compared with most other developed nations. |

我認為人地未必唔睇長線,而係佢地對於交通基建無香港或者其他亞洲歐洲地方啲人咁重視姐。
當人人都有車有車牌可以渣的話,即使市中心泊車難都會照受,頂多泊在車站隔離轉車,故公共交通對於西方人來講無香港或者中國等等咁重視。
不過美國政府財赤實在嚴重,我想他們是寧願唔要基建都唔想政府的債務係咁重疊下去,那麼他們將來生活甚至下一代都會有幾嚴重的影響。
其實 NYC Subway d express/local 好易睇,除左 weekend service alternation 之外,花少少心機睇下張地圖其實已經一目了然。唔似 LIRR 咁,班班車都可以停唔同站 (尤以 Huntington / Port Jefferson、Ronkonkoma 同 Babylon / Montauk 線為甚),真係唔知邊鬼個咁得閒「鬥」d 咁既 timetable 出黎。
咁我又明多少少啦,即係 Subway 有固定 Stopping Pattern 而 LIRR 就無?
不過我同意樓上講法,如果唔將香港果套放落第度,嘗試用當地人的眼光去看的話,大家會舒服好多。
By the way, LIRR 聽聞係全美國最密車既 commuter rail, 繁忙時間由 Penn station 出入站係三分鐘一班車,都幾壯觀,鐵路迷亦不妨下繁去 Jamaica 站企下,會影到好多款車。
想問 LIRR 係用電車,柴頭定係柴油動車組 (DMU) 的呢?

係昨日的新聞,似乎上馬機會不少,加上要的錢唔多,條線起緊,啲工具都齊哂,只要一批就好容易,也不會影響 NY Manhattan 太多就搞掂。
