At the time of its launch, the Optare Excel was revolutionary - it was the first low floor midibus designed in Britain. Sadly, the "Mark 1" version was severely plagued by reliability problem, an image it couldn't shake off even with the introduction of the Excel 2 in 2000. Despite its orginal success, the Excel has become a fairly rare type to linger in service across the country.

Which type of bus exported to New Zealand generally sustain a shorter service life than its counterparts in the country of origin?

以我所個人覺得, midibus來講Excel算重型喇.
短車比佢細佬Solo都做得到,
長車可能B7都頂得到

好多時呢d尷尬位market,高不成低不就.冇乜前途.

*不過有時覺得英國d所謂midibus都幾離譜(唔係話佢差)
大拿拿去到成10.2m/11.3m, 都仲可以用Solo/Dart呢d咁ge規格...

The Ritchies Excel are ex-Reading, probably the same bus that posted by CMB
Ritchies also have Delta from the UK
Enviro 500!

Excel is indisputably a midibus - when launched, it was offered at 9.6m, 10m, 10.7m and 11.5m, well within the midibus territories - not to mention their weight is along the line of similar sized Dart SLF. Only when Optare moved on to the Excel 2, the two shortest versions were dropped and a longer 11.8m version was introduced. However, being much lighter and less rugged built, the longest version is only a supermidi, just as the Super Dart, E300 and SB200 are.

咁英國佬已攪到Midibus同Fullsize的market overlap得好緊要.

如我之前講, 其實B7/ L113呢d其實佔據的market差唔多......
